Norwood, the homegrown entertainment multi-hyphenate, is set to give many holiday revelers a prime opportunity to catch another glimpse of a rising star.

The Atlanta-bred singer/songwriter/musician/dancer/actor will be performing live as part of Lenox Square’s Legendary Fourth of July event. A 20-minute set before the thousands in attendance there is the one perk the Atlanta’s Next Legend winner said he is looking forward to.

The dynamic performer, who splits his time between here and Los Angeles these days, is no stranger to Atlanta stages. Named Macy’s Rising Star of 2009, Norwood has played virtually every signature occasion/venue — from the Peach Drop to Atlanta Braves pre-game concerts.

His momentum appears to be picking up even more steam as of late. In addition to a burgeoning recording career, Norwood beat out several hundred other musical acts to claim the July 4 gig as part of Atlanta’s Next Legend, the mall’s second talent search.

The Neighbor Newspapers last week caught up with the Gwinnett County resident for a candid conversation.

Q: What was your initial reaction when notified about your Atlanta’s Next Legend win?

A: I was incredibly excited. The Legendary Fourth show is an event I’ve wanted to play for several years. It’s really an honor — I’m really proud to be representing Atlanta.

Q: For those who may be unfamiliar with your music, how would you describe the Norwood sound? And which artists do you consider to be influences?

A: I would describe it as dance pop with the occasional soulful edge. Hmmm … some of my influences … I would have to say Michael Jackson, Madonna and Lady Gaga.

Q: What can those in attendance at Lenox Square expect from you?

A: The audience can expect a really fun, high-energy and interactive show. I’m inviting everyone to bring their dancing shoes. Sometimes I have dancers, but there won’t be enough room this time. … The audience will have to be my dancers (laughs).

Q: What’s next for you?

A: I’m in pre-production for the official music video for my single, “Gravity.” I can’t give anything away as far as the details, but you’ll see something that’s never been done in a music video before. Keep an eye out for it on my website, norwood-music.com.
