At about 4 p.m. Thursday, police were called and told Williams was found lying in the rear parking lot of an office complex where it connects to the Sheraton hotel at 800 Hammond Drive and the property known as The Hub on Barfield Road, where students from the Art Institute of Atlanta reside. Williams had been shot multiple times. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta, where he was pronounced dead.
Information, developed later into the night, gave detectives evidence to secure a murder warrant for Davis, who is believed to have shot Williams following a dispute that may have started at The Hub. Davis is a current student at the Art Institute but not listed as a resident of The Hub.
At a Sandy Springs City Council meeting in April, when The Hub’s zoning as an extended-stay hotel was questioned by residents who thought it was being used as an apartment complex, representatives of the nearby Autumn Chace subdivision complained about the amount of crimes occurring there. At the meeting they said there had been 76 incident reports by city police in an 18-month span.
