Rehearsals for the Alliance Theatre’s world premiere production of “Bull Durham,” a musical based on the 1988 film, kicked off Tuesday, the Midtown theatre announced. Nearly 30 actors arrived in Atlanta this week to begin work with the creative team led by Director Kip Fagan.

“Bull Durham" will run Sept. 3 through Oct. 5.

The Alliance’s annual Season Opening Celebration will take place Sept. 13 and will coincide with “Bull Durham’s” opening night. The celebration, a fundraiser for the theatre’s educational programming, will honor Billye and Hank Aaron for their philanthropic contributions to the Atlanta community, and specifically for their deep commitment to youth educational programming.
