Last season, the Wildcats relied heavily on the passing game with Tyler Sellers at quarterback and Justin Drake and Cortez McDowell hauling in most of the yards and touchdowns. As a result, Locust Grove advanced to the playoffs for the first time in its five-year existence.
But this season, head coach Clint Satterfield has a different set of players on the field and said he believes his team will have to take a different route to the playoffs.
“Last year, we threw the ball a lot and this year with the offensive line being so experienced and having a lot of games under its belt, we are trying to establish more of a running game,” Satterfield said.
Satterfield has a great deal of confidence that senior offensive linemen Schuyler Martin and Ethan Henning will be able to open holes for junior quarterback Cameron Maddox, who transferred from Stockbridge, and senior running back Tre King.
